Bosic: You have entire regions that do not pay RTV tax

A session of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH is being held in Sarajevo where MPs are considering the request of SDS MPs Mladen Bosic, Aleksandra Pandurevic, Nenad Lalic and Momcilo Novakovic for consideration, under urgent procedure, the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Public Broadcasting System of BiH.

The draft law on amendments to the Law on Public Broadcasting of BiH stipulates that the section in which the RTV tax is defined as "the fee for owning a radio or TV in the household and with a legal entity" is to be deleted, which means the abolition of the RTV fee and the financing from the state budget and entities.

Mladen Bosic said that he did not understand why anyone would oppose this way of financing public services in BiH.

"We offer a simple solution, but I see that there is a blockade at the beginning, why some citizens would pay a tax, and some do not. You have entire regions that do not pay the fee," said Bosic, one of the proposers of the law.

"The former way of financing the Public Broadcasting Service of BiH and Entity Public Broadcasting Services is unfair from the point of view of discrimination of citizens and different ways in which entity justice institutions are connected with the obligation to pay RTV fees or different court practices," it states in the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on the Public Broadcasting System of BiH.

"Since public services were not in the service of all citizens, it is not justified for them to pay for their work, and therefore the bill stipulates that the BHRT public service should be financed from the BiH budget, and that Entity broadcasting services are financed from entity budgets," it is stated in the explanation of the proposed changes .
