Erdogan: The question of Jerusalem will cause the awakening of mankind

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said today that Turkey is proud of its concern for refugees and migrants.

"As far as our heads in Turkey are raised when it comes to migrant concerns, unfortunately, so many of the heads of countries that are presented as developed, modern and civilized," Erdogan said at a gathering held in Ankara on the occasion of the International Day of Migrants.

While pointing out that Turkey received and dispossessed about 3.5 million refugees from Syria, Erdogan said Turkey had no hidden plans, but that it considered it a duty to brothers in distress.

Turkish President Erdogan also condemned the recent move by US President Donald Trump on the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

"When it comes to the status of Jerusalem, we need to take concrete, visible and effective steps," Erdogan said.

He said that the question can not be resolved solely by the love that every person carries in the heart of that holy city, nor can the sufficiency in that case only be fulfilled by words.

"Every pregnant child in Jerusalem and other Palestinian cities, every mother who suffers, and every affected, beaten or offended man, are a sign of the upcoming storm: There is no violence in the place without justice, but there is also the beginning of waking. The question of Jerusalem will cause the awakening of all mankind, especially Muslims, "Erdogan said.
