And we "LOVE": 11 things that McDonald does not want you to know
Competitive chain Subway (which has fallen unwisely in Croatia) has passed McDonald's 2011 with more locations around the world and even worse news came in 2012 when profits fell for the first time since 2003, claims Huffington Post.
Although it has been trying to introduce a new, better-quality diet in recent years, McDonald's assortment continues to follow the image of cheap food for the lower class.
Every effort is commendable, but we bring you 11 things that McDonald's does not want you to know:
1. A huge difference in wages
The difference in wealth between the executive director and the employee has doubled in the last ten years, and employees have even organized strikes, demanding higher wages.
2. Marketing directed to children
McDonald's has been constantly criticized for marketing directed to children. In fact, in the last couple of years, the amount of advertising has increased and it is known that the company gives 1.5 billion toys each year.
3. Destroying the rainforest
2006 Greenpeace accused McDonald's of using soya seeds that are grown on the surfaces that are torn up by tropical rain forests. Soya is normally used to feed chickens served in restaurants.
4. Employing workers
The male wages of workers have already been mentioned, but the owner of one of the franchises has retreated after it has been discovered that workers pay below the minimum stipulated schedule.
5. Dangerous coffee
A 1992 scandal is known, when 79-year-old Stella Liebeck got third grade burns after drinking coffee from McDonald's. In the end, the court gave her more than half a million dollars of compensation, and soon other guests went to lawsuits.
6. The job is in decline
Although new products are often introduced, the company obviously can not hit the taste of consumers, so the profit was reduced last summer.
7. Use of broken chicken
In 2012, China Television accused the restaurant chain of serving chicken in its Chinese subsidiaries, which had expired on the shelf life.
8. Obesity in children
Many claim that McDonald's is the biggest cause of obesity in children, but the company rejects it. Still, they quietly introduced fruits into children's meals.
9. Employees work for Christmas
In the past years, McDonald's began to force his franchise to work on Christmas, and for the past holidays, employees were not compensated for overtime work.
10. Selling bad oat flakes
It has been found that oat flakes (which are advertised as a healthy alternative to other foods from the supply) contain sugar as well as two Snickers plates and fewer calories than ordinary cheeseburgers.
11. Some products were a complete failure
Thus, McLobster collapsed badly while McDLT caused controversy over styropor packaging that was not biodegradable.
