Palestine in The Hague has filed a criminal complaint against Israel
Palestine filed an application to the International Criminal Court against Israel that covers crimes and violations of the rights of the people of Palestine in the past, present and future.
The State of Palestine, as one of the signatories to the Rome Statute, submitted to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague an application against Israel covering "all Israeli crimes and violations of the rights of the people of Palestine in the past, the present and the future related to the Israeli colonial regime of the expansion of settlements in the West Bank , including East Jerusalem, "a statement from the Palestinian National Commission responsible for co-operation with the ICC said.
Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Maliki is scheduled to meet ICC Chief Prosecutor Fatou Bensoud during the day to hand over the application.Maliki will invite the court to assume responsibilities and duties in the exercise of justice for the Palestinian people and that Israel, the occupying power, is responsible for continued crimes and human rights violations, the statement said.
Bringing responsible justice
Below is the ICC's competent authority to investigate current Israeli crimes linked to the illegal colonial spread of the settlement and to the criminal prosecution of those who commit such crimes.
"In this context, the State of Palestine enforces its right as a member state of the ICC Statute to report to the Prosecution the crimes committed by Israel's officials, the occupying forces, against the Palestinian people," the statement said by the Palestinian agency Wafa."The ICC is expected to launch a criminal investigation into the war and crimes against humanity committed by Israel. It's time to establish the responsibility of Israeli war criminals and bring them to justice."
