BiH threatens high risk of devastating earthquakes!
The risk of earthquakes in BiH there because of the seismically active area, it was said at a conference on natural disasters that began in Sarajevo.
Second Conference of the Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction BiH, with particular emphasis on earthquakes, opened the Deputy Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mladen Ćavar who stressed that BiH has a high risk of devastating earthquakes.
Ćavar cited data from the risk assessment of natural or other disasters in 2011, according to which most of the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina is located in the zone of the seventh, eighth and ninth degree Mercalli scale.
He pointed out that earthquakes of such forces cause large effects on people, property, environment and infrastructure which makes it necessary to work on personnel and technical strengthening of the relevant institutions in BiH, and their better coordination and exchange of information in this area.

"BiH has established the Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in the form of a permanent forum for exchange of views with the aim of finding solutions to reduce risk in all areas. BiH is committed to policies of disaster risk reduction a priority, "said Ćavar.
According to him, all the actions that followed after the spring floods have shown that it must establish close cooperation and coordination between all participants in the system of protection and rescue.

The Acting Director of the Republic Administration of Civil Protection of Veseljko Hani believes it is necessary to strengthen the skills and capacity in local communities, and make a proper risk assessment and anything He is possible to cope in the future.
