Hammond and Steinmeier: Today opens a new window, BiH has a chance to prosper


Bosnia and Herzegovina after the October elections has the opportunity to progress, becoming more dynamic, prosperous, stable country, said Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom Philip Hammond after a meeting with leaders of political parties, reports Anadolu Agency (AA).

"Today we go from Sarajevo with optimism and confidence that is before us a good future. We hope that the political leaders of this country will not miss this opportunity, but it will take the opportunity offered to them, to go ahead to EU membership," said Hammond.

He said that the protests in February last year were warning that things can not continue as it is currently the case, and that the nation requires a better future, jobs, prosperity, economic growth and hope for the country.

He reminded that German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and he launched an initiative to give a new driving force of BiH accession process to the EU.

"Now there is an initiative adopted by our colleagues in the EU. It is now an EU initiative. Today's visit is meant as encouragement to politicians, political leaders from across the spectrum and from all levels of government to come together to jointly support this initiative.
