It was recorded a heartbreaking sight of a dead Syrian boy whose body washed up on the Turkish coast of Bodrum.

The shocking photos show the boy lying with his head in the sand, before it is picked up Turkish soldier.

The boy was one of 12 who were drowning in boats tried to switch on the Greek island of Kos.

Greek authorities said that the boy was in a group that was fleeing from the members of the so-called Islamic State of Syria.

According to UN figures, about 2,500 people have died this summer in an attempt to escape from their countries in Europe.
