US brings strategy to combat ISIS

The United States once again discuss the strategy for the fight against the Islamic state (IS) in Syria and the Pentagon explores the possibility of moving fighters in safer areas, providing better intelligence and improving the skills of trained rebels, reported The New York Times.

Options, which are confidential, circulated among the highest officials of the Defence Ministry, the newspaper said, citing sources who wished to remain anonymous.

These include an increase in groups of trained rebels sent back to Syria and the deployment of the places where the greater local support, according to the Times.

Underscoring the fragility of efforts led by the United States for the training of thousands of members of the Syrian opposition, Nusra Front, a group linked to al Qaeda, in July said it had captured some of the members of the first group of less than 60 trained insurgents several weeks after they deployed in Syria.
