Assad is ready to withdraw from office
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said that he will resign only if the Syrian people wants to, not because of pressure from the West.
"The president came to power through elections with the support of the people, and this function if it leaves people asking him, not because of the position the United States or the UN Security Council," said Asad for the Russian media.
He added that the president remains in power if the people want, otherwise it should be immediately withdrawn.
According to him, the help of Iran, which has provided military technology, it is crucial to combat terrorism in Syria. He said that Tehran was not sent military units to Damascus.
"The international coalition led by the United States so far has failed to prevent the spread and progression of 'Islamic state'," said Assad, according to "USA Today Rasa".
