The children were on the train that was derailed in northeast France


Several children were in the fast train "TGV", which was derailed during a test drive in the northeast of France, it was announced today by the railway company "SNCF" after the death toll rose to 11, with five people missing.

"Several children were among the injured. The investigation should determine how many people were on the train and how many of them there was unauthorized," the statement said.

The director of the company "SNCF" Guillaume Pepy said that yesterday's disaster is unprecedented and that caused great shock.

"So far, the accident was inexplicable," said Pepy.

He stressed that the investigation be determined who else was there in the train next to the team responsible for the test and under what circumstances they are allowed to board because "SNCF" does not allow third parties to be in a wagon during a test.

Part of the train remained partially submerged in a canal in the city Ekvershajma not far from the German border.

Eleven deaths were among the 49 technicians and workers railways responsible for testing the new generation high speed train "TGV", which is supposed to enter service next spring.

The deputy prosecutor in Strasbourg, Alexandre Chevrier said that 12 of the 37 injured were in a serious condition.

He does not rule out the possibility of sabotage or attack, but believes that for such a thing even exist very unlikely.
