Russia sends anti-aircraft missile system S-400 to Syria
Anti-aircraft missile system S-400 will be deployed in the database Hmeimim, said Russian Defense Minister Shoigu.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Wednesday that Moscow will in Syria to send its most advanced anti-aircraft missile system S-400, after yesterday's Turkish fighters shot down a Russian military aircraft on the Turkish-Syrian border.
"Anti-aircraft missile system S-400 will be deployed in the database Hmeimim" said Shoigu, quoted the Russian news agency.
Base Hmeimim is located in the area controlled by forces of the Syrian army, and Russia has used to launch its bombers who go into action destroying targets armed group Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in Syria.
The system S-400 was introduced into service in Russia in 2007.
Turkey yesterday morning shot down a Russian military plane on the border with Syria because, according to the Turkish military, violated the airspace of Turkey, although repeatedly warned, while the Russian Ministry of Defense stressed that the Russian aircraft did not break the Turkish airspace.
