Goal-technology probably from next season's Champions League

European Football Union (UEFA) probably will next season in the Champions League to use video technology, said today after the meeting of the Executive Board in Paris, Secretary General of the organization Gianni Infantino.

"In January, we will make a final decision on the introduction of a goal of technology. We talked about it today at the session of the Executive Board and we are very close to introducing innovations in the Champions League," said Infantino.
If you bring in goal-technology UEFA will then have to decide which provider to use, and many clubs would have to invest in this project for their stadiums.

Also, a goal technology may be used in the forthcoming European Championships in 2016 in France.
"If the goal technology being used at the European Championships, then you will almost certainly be used in club competitions," said Infantino.
