Muhammad Ali fits Donald Trump

Muhammad Ali has sent a strong message and a passionate Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Wednesday, saying that the recent global crisis of terrorism "perverted people's attitudes to what Islam really is."

But he became a Muslim and changed his name from Cassius Clay at the height of his career, as one of the greatest boxers in history. His message came after a week in which Trump casts doubt on the claim by President Barack Obama to several American "sports heroes" practicing Islam.

"I am a Muslim, and there is nothing Islamic in relation to the killing of innocent people in Paris, San Bernardino, or anywhere else in the world," said Ali for US Today. "True Muslims know about the relentless violence, the so-called Islamic jihadists who go against the very principles of our faith.

"We, as Muslims, we have to confront those who use Islam to advance their own agenda. They have alienated many of the teachings of Islam. True Muslims know or should know that it goes against our religion to try to force anyone to Islam" , reports USA Today.

One of the main principles Trump campaign is disturbing attitude on immigration. At the height of the mass shooting in San Bernardino that killed 14 people last week, Trump called for the establishment of a national database of Muslims and restrictions for Muslims who want to travel to the United States.

Ali's political views have not changed since the 1960s, and his relationship with the nation of Islam sparked controversy during his reign as a world heavyweight champion.

"Speaking as someone who has never been accused of political correctness," Ali said, "I believe that our political leaders should use its position to understand the religion of Islam and explained that these misguided killers have perverted the human view of what Islam really is ".
