Denmark controls the passports at the border with Germany

Denmark on Monday at noon temporarily suspended the Schengen system on the border with Germany after Sweden did the same on the border with Denmark, the Danish government announced on Monday.

"Denmark introduces passport control on the border with Germany," it said at an extraordinary press conference on Monday in Copenhagen, Danish Prime Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen.

These measures, as pointed out, for the time being is limited to ten days, and will consist of random control of travel documents. "The police will not ask for any of passport control," said Danish Prime Minister.

Denmark is, as he said, was forced to introduce this measure because it is a few hours before and Sweden started to implement measures to control the borders to Denmark and to refuse to enter a country for all passengers without proper documents.

Germany expressed regret

The German Foreign Ministry expressed regret over the Danish measures, assessing freedom of movement within the European Union as one of the greatest value, Hina.

Due to the large influx of refugees from Sweden today requires that those who train or bus crossing a bridge Oeresundskog, the main entrance of refugees in the country, must show ID.

From midnight to carry out detailed control in the Danish railway station Copenhagen, the Copenhagen airport, from where trains go through Oeresundskog bridge to Sweden.

To control the charge carriers, who face high fines if they did not respect that decision.

Presently there are about thirty checkpoints.

All persons traveling by train or bus to Sweden must show some form of identification (passport, identity card, driving license).

This measure applies to ferries that sail Oeresundskim passage.

"I think this will be an effective control of identity. A number of migrants will have to seek asylum in other countries", said Minister for Immigration Morgan Johansson announcing control December 17

UNHCR: With control of the refugees increasingly difficult in Europe

UNHCR informed that the refugees will be more difficult to come to Europe if other states follow the example of Sweden and to introduce more detailed control.

A spokesman for the UNHCR in Northern Europe, Mattias Axelsson said the country must understand that refugees are under enormous pressure and that do not always have the possibility to bring along an identity card.

Sweden is still on November 12 introduced a control at the border, especially in Oeresundskom bridge and the ferries from the Danish and German ports on the Baltic Sea, but they are not strictly implemented.

The new measures, many criticize because, due to control route from Denmark to Sweden last for at least half an hour longer.

Sweden, which has more than 20 percent of the population of foreign origin, so far is around opening doors to refugees.

The Scandinavian monarchies, with 9.8 million people, last year received more than 160,000 refugees, and this year plans to receive them 170,000.
