General Diković Behold, Serbia and arming!
The right of each country to arm themselves in accordance with their estimates and targets, says the commander of the Army of Serbia.
Serbian Army Chief General Ljubisa Dikovic, announced the modernization of the Serbian armed forces, including the purchase of two multi-purpose helicopters, howitzers "Nora," armored vehicle "Lazarus", and pointed out that the army led by ready to respond to any terrorist threat.
"It is the right of every country to arm themselves in accordance with their estimates and targets, and here - and we were armed," he told Radio-Television Serbia.
Diković said that, due to the restrictive budget priority to the modernization of existing weapons and the purchase of local companies and will only occur at the end of shopping on the world market.
The modernization of weapons
Recalling that the Serbian Army is in seventh place in Europe in the number of people engaged in multinational operations, Diković claims that the army "is ready to respond to all of the risks and threats to the security of Serbia and its citizens."
Speaking of the military budget, the general said that it was not pleased, but he is realistic, because it represents "what might be provided to the army."
He recalled that the Serbian government last year provided a means for the purchase of two multi-purpose helicopters and their delivery is expected in the first half of 2016.
During this and next year the Army of Serbia will, as he said, to perform and complete the upgrading of the air defense system "Cube", modernization of stations for conducting missile for missile systems, self-propelled howitzer "Nora" caliber 122 mm and artillery ammunition and missiles of large caliber .
"I emphasize equipping multipurpose armored vehicle 'Lazarus', missile systems 'Morava' and these days we introduce the verification tests howitzer 'Nora' caliber 155 millimeters. The introduction of the weapons training aircraft 'Lasta' expected this year," said Diković.
Referring to the frequent announcements of arming the Croatian Armed Forces, Diković pointed out that the right of every country to outfit its armed forces, in line with its estimates and goals.
"Serbia is not a threat to anyone '
"Here, we are arming. And we develop tools and systems, as well as long-range. So, one can say that Serbia is arming to threaten the security of some countries in the region, and this in fact is not so. Serbia today is not a threat to any country and so I interpret arming the Croatian ", said the first man of the Serbian Army.
Diković is, however, that Serbia must develop systems that can carry out attacks on foreign territory, because endangering the safety and potential aggression against Serbia went from some of the countries in the region.
"We hope that this will not happen, but the military thinking must be, and must lead us to how to protect the integrity we have the power and ability to fight back attacks on the territory of the aggressor," said general Diković.
He argues that the army is monitoring the situation in the world, especially the Middle East, and is ready to respond to any terrorist threat, but that more attention should be paid to the roots of terrorism.
