Israeli Minister Steinitz: EGYPT TO OUR APPLICATION Potapova tunnel between Gaza and Sinai

Israeli Infrastructure Minister Yuval Steinitz argues that Egypt at the request of Israel introduced new measures immersion tunnel under the border between Gaza and Sinai.Minister Steinitz was the keynote speaker at last night's seminar on regional cooperation in Beer Sheva and pointed out that the cooperation between Israel and Egypt, particularly in the area of coordinated security measures, beats never been better.

"Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Siri initiated a sinking sea water underground tunnels linking Gaza and Egyptian Sinai, and it works at the request of Israel," said Minister Steinitz.
The Gaza Strip is already several years under full occupation and embargo of Israel. The only border crossing to Egypt Refah was mostly closed, and the population of Gaza is their basic needs covered only goods that were brought in through secret tunnels under the Egyptian border. Egypt's military has in recent months sank dozens of these tunnels.
