In Macedonia today a day of mourning

In Macedonia today is a day of mourning because of the floods that have claimed 21 lives, announced the Macedonian government.After yesterday's extraordinary session, the government adopted a decision on the declaration of emergency in Skopje and Tetovo area for 15 days, according to Tanjug.

At least 21 people were killed, dozens were injured and more than 1,000 have been evacuated because of floods that after the storm hit Skopje and the surrounding countryside. The flooding has destroyed hundreds of homes and vehicles, roads are congested, several areas without electricity, and six people were reported missing.The city authorities are in extraordinary session decided to financially assist families of victims who will receive 3000 euros.Meteorologists predict that more rain is expected, and authorities urged people to stay at home and drink only bottled water.

Agencies report that is in a disastrous storm killed most of the villages Sinđelić, Stajkovci, Smilkovci and Creševo.
