Important / Police warns citizens: Protect mobile phones from malicious software

Recently, the police receives an increasing number of complaints which the malware (malicious software) locked access on mobile phones.In order to re-unlock the mobile phone, from the owner of the phone asking for the ransom in order to allow perpetrators to be readmitted warned police in Croatia.

This practice is often referred to as "ransomware", and it is from one of the most popular hacker attacks in recent years, which is far more often targeted computers than phones.
"For this reason once again call upon the citizens to be careful and to be more educated about your anti-malware software to maximally protect your data and completely prevent any misuse of data by mobile phone," police said on its website.

Users are recommended to install only on mobile applications from the official store and mobile banking are not used for devices that are modified security settings, or 'be rooted' devices, because so much easier to circumvent security controls.The same applies to the use of unprotected public wi-fi network, police said.
