PRESS COUNCIL: hate speech is not freedom of speech is a crime

Recently recorded the common practice of brutal hate speech, threats and killings of liquidation, the creation of inter-ethnic and total social tensions, through BH. Media, warned today of the Complaints Commission of the Press Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Hate speech is not freedom of speech, stressed in a statement, adding that it is a criminal offense and subject to criminal liability and citizens must be aware that the settings of hate speech, threats and incitement in the comments on web portals, exposing criminal responsibility. The Press Council therefore called on the security agencies, the police and judicial authorities to sanction open dissemination of hate speech in the media, and people who make threats, including threats of assassinations and murders, and in accordance with the criminal laws in BiH.

The Complaints Commission of the Press Council in particular urged the editors of online and print media to the editorial policy do whatever is necessary to narrow the space of manifestation of hate speech, in particular in the area of free advises citizens on their websites.
