At the airport: North Korean authorities arrested a US citizen

The American citizen is detained in North Korea while trying to leave the country, reports BBC.

The man who holds US citizenship was identified only by his surname Kim. He also became the third American who was arrested by North Korean authorities, one was convicted of spying and the other for theft at the hotel. The third arrest occurred at a time of high tensions on the peninsula while the United States warned that "strategic patience" toward North Korea over its nuclear program ended. US Navy led by the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, which the US president Donald Trump called "armada" will come to the peninsula for a few days.

The South Korean news agency Yonhap said it is a US citizen was a professor at the University of Yanbian in China, and North Korea has stayed a month. He was arrested at the International Airport Pyongyang. In January last year American student Otto Warmbier (21) was arrested because he tried to steal advertising sign from the hotel during a visit to North Korea. He was given a sentence of 15 years hard labor for crimes against the state in March 2016. In April last year Dim Dong-chul (62), a naturalized American born in South Korea, was sentenced to 10 years of hard physical labor for spying. He was arrested in October of the year before last.
