The candid entry of Montenegro into NATO

The Assembly of Montenegro unanimously today, with 46 votes, has adopted a proposal for a bill for ratification of the North Atlantic Treaty, which provides for the conditions for Montenegro's accession to NATO.

In addition to the ruling coalition, Montenegro's membership in NATO was backed by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) delegates, who were the only opposition party to attend a parliamentary session on Cetinje, reports RTCG. Parallel to holding parliamentary sessions, the Democratic Front has organized a protest over its decision to make a decision on Montenegro's membership in NATO, by a referendum. They have argued and will not admit the parliamentary decision.

Prime Minister Duško Markovic said at the beginning of the debate that the assembly today has the historic privilege of making a decision to be remembered while Montenegro and Montenegrin, according to Tanjug. "This decision could not be made anywhere except Cetinje," Markovic said.
