Györg IVANOV: EUROPEAN UNION flunking IN THE CONTEXT OF MACEDONIA

Macedonian President Györg Ivanov said today in Istanbul as the European Union fails the exam in terms of Macedonia. "While the EU, on the one hand, promote human rights, protection of their identities and other rights, these rules do not apply for Macedonia," said Ivanov, reports Anadolu Agency (AA).

Ivanov was in Istanbul, where he addressed a forum on global leadership 2017 organized by Bahcesehir University. In his speech referred to the period of the Ottoman Empire, and said that during the Ottoman period, different religions, different languages and races lived together for centuries, but as Europeans have not yet been realized.

He pointed out that today there is a paper trail for the last three thousand years of history of mankind, and that is 2700 years of it passed in wars. The world is in a global sense of peace lived 300 years. Here we are faced with a paradox. We can see that the longer the peace recorded in the Balkans, Middle East and Kafkazu - stressed Ivanov.

Commenting on the long-standing conflict between Catholics and Protestants, who later made peace.

- Protestants and Catholics in Western Europe after the years of war had made peace and move on to secularism. Faith are locked into a special frame and limit from it. This has created a single view called tolerance, which is placing faith in a special box. Tolerance in the sense: although you do not like, I'll make you suffer. In the Middle East, the Balkans or Kafkazu no such custom. In our present philosophy of mutual respect. Therefore, the members of different religions and languages for centuries managed to live together. Mutual respect is much more sacred and more sublime than tolerance Westerners. In the Ottoman period it was called the National System -, said Ivanov.

He further said that the European Union, as well as Tito's Yugoslavia, is a project of peace, however, pointed out how the EU fails to find a solution in times of crisis.

- Everything is perfect for the duration of peace. EU, such as it was, and Yugoslavia, has a problem of the lack of methods for the crisis - said Ivanov, citing the examples of Greece, Ukraine, and problems of fighting terrorism.He pointed out, too, that his country Macedonia made a decision to join the EU, but, because of the attitudes of the Union, has not yet managed to get to the door. Also, he stressed that his country is doing everything to become a member of NATO.

- We did everything they asked of us. In Iraq we have 12 times the sending of its mission in the framework of NATO, in Afghanistan even 24 times. However, we have not accepted the membership, because it is the name of Macedonia, "Ivanov said, adding:
