The former FBI director will publicly testify of the conflict with Trump
FBI director James Comey plans to testify publicly in the Senate next week to confirm the shocking allegations that US President Donald Trump compelled him to cease investigating Trump's close associate's relationship with Russia, a source close to the issue on Wednesday said.
Still in final detail, there is no official date for his testimony. Comey is expected to appear before the Senate Intelligence Committee investigating possible ties between Trump's assistants and Russia during last year's presidential election, CNN reports.Comey holds private meetings with special adviser Robert Mueller to agree on the parameters of his testimony in order to ensure that there will be no legal consequences of this public address, the source said.
Comey will most likely hold an official conversation with Mueller after a public address. The source said Comey most likely would not go into the details of the controversial investigation but appears to be more than willing to describe his interaction with Trump that preceded Comey's shift.
