GERMANY JULY 11, SUSPENDING THE SHENZHEN AGREEMENT

In the framework of security measures ahead of summit leaders of the G-20 countries in Hamburg, the authorities of Germany have temporarily suspended the Schengen agreement allowing free movement in the region.

The German Interior Ministry said that the border services of that country from today until July 11 would carry out passport controls for all people crossing the German border. This decision will not apply to persons arriving in Germany with a plane and a regular Schengen visa. However, nationals of all European Union members entering Germany on land or rail will be subjected to passport controls.

Interior Minister Thomas De Maizier said the priority is to raise security to the highest level during summit of the G-20 leader who will be held on July 7 and 8 in Hamburg. He added that Germany was granted approval by the European Commission. BH institutions, as things stand now, are still waiting for the official confirmation of this information, told us in the BiH Foreign and Security Ministries.
