Britain condemned the construction of Israeli settlements on the West Bank
British Foreign Minister Boris Johnson condemned a statement by the Government of Israel on the construction of at least 3,000 residential units on the West Bank.
"The expansion of the settlement is illegal under international law and is not conducive to peace. This increase in the activity of spreading settlements makes it difficult to achieve a two-state solution in which Israel is secure from terrorist attacks and a Palestinian state is a viable and sovereign" , He said, reports the WAFA Palestinian News Agency. Last week, Israeli commission approved plans for the first Jewish settlements on the occupied West Bank for two decades, Israeli media said. The Palestinians condemned this act, which is opposed to years of international pressure to avoid such measures.
Strike for peace talks
If they do, approximately 1,800 new homes will be built on the West Bank, which will provide an additional blow to the resurgence of peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians. This decision of Israel comes after the government has decided to build a new Amichai settlement, which will be home to approximately 300 settlers, who were expelled from another Amon settlement in February. The Israeli Supreme Court ordered this eviction after it ruled that their homes were illegally built on private Palestinian land.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu then undertook to find a new home on the West Bank, where there are approximately 400,000 Jewish settlers and 2.8 million Palestinians.
