Marathonians connect the war enclaves of Goražde, Zepa and Srebrenica

Participants of Marathon peace, who honored the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica, and another war enclave - Goražde, started this morning from Memorijalna šuma 8.372 in the village of Posestra. On the road between 170 and 180 kilometers in length, they will rest in Zepa tonight, and the arrival in Potocari is expected tomorrow afternoon. In the second Marathon of Peace, eight members of Athletic Clubs Goražde and Novi Grad from Sarajevo participate.

Athletic Club Goražde, with the support of Goražde's mufti, cantonal and city authorities, organizes the Marathon of Peace Goražde - Žepa - Srebrenica for the second time. High temperatures and heavy stocks are not an obstacle because the motive is to pay tribute to the victims of genocide, which was also intended for Gorazde and other surrounding towns in BiH. "Emotions are always there and every year they are bigger and bigger. We really can neither, nor can we forget what happened in the previous war, and especially to the people of Srebrenica. We in this humble way, we want to give recognition," said Before the departure, the president of AK Goražde, athlete Zaim Šuman.

A member of the Athletic Club Novi Grad from Sarajevo, Saban Zunic, has been athletic for over 35 years and is wondering if anything could be done to prevent the genocide in Srebrenica.

"I believe that I will be wondering when I'm alive, because I think that we could do more. On the other hand, looking at the future, I expect - it may be unrealistic now - that the boys from the Serbian people can join these manifestations. Those who did the crime without washing their works, but that through this run they all turned peace together. It is better to sweat sweat than blood, that is the essence, "Žunić emphasized.

Goraždanin Almir Adilović takes part in the marathon for the second time.

"I was last year too, and I can not describe the feelings of where I went through everything, although I swore a lot, I am satisfied. I go for the second time, because we can never forget the victims of Srebrenica," Adilovic said. During the passage through Goražde, marathoners, along with children from this city, laid flowers on a monument to children killed during the 1992-1995 war and the memorial of Goražde, the city of hero their defenders, and then continued their path to Rogatica.
