Lawyer: Ratko Mladic is very bad, he can not walk

It is possible that indictee, former RS Army commander Ratko Mladic, will not appear on Wednesday, November 22, on the pronouncement of the verdict before the Hague Tribunal, due to a very poor health condition, said Srni, one of the defense attorneys, Branko Lukic.

"We were visiting him today, it's bad, he can not walk, he is carrying it, he's wearing it. Man is really not good," said lawyer Lukic.

He pointed out that the defense did not deal with any tricks, but because it saw that Mladic was really not good, he started insisting on his treatment.

"I do not know whether Mladic can now come to the verdict. We do not know for now whether the general will be able to appear before the trial court on the pronouncement of the verdict," Lukic added.

In the event that, despite all the verdicts, Lukic said that the court could do it, as he did in Vojislav Seselj's case, but that the defense would be upset.

"We will not admit, without his presence, pronouncing the verdict. We say that without the presence of the general, the verdict can be pronounced," Lukic emphasized. He says that pronouncing the verdict will be attended by Darko's son Darko and his wife Bosa.

The trial of Mladic began in May 2012 and ended in December last year.

Mladic was arrested in Serbia after being detained for several years and was extradited to The Hague in May 2011.

The Bosnian Serb wartime commander was charged with genocide committed in Srebrenica, where more than 8,000 Bosniak men and boys were killed in July 1995.

The indictment charges Mladic with the siege of Sarajevo, which lasted 44 months and killed more than 10,000 people. He is also charged with persecuting Bosniaks and Croats throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina and taking UNPROFOR members for hostages.
