Covic: There is no reason to discuss the Peljesac Bridge

BiH Presidency Chairman and HDZ BiH leader Dragan Čović said today that the construction of the Pelješac Bridge was one of the topics of the meeting of the BiH Presidency members with the Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers and his deputies.

"We talked for more than an hour yesterday, not only BiH Presidency Member Bakir Izetbegović and myself, but also BiH Presidency Member Mladen Ivanić and the Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers Denis Zvizdić and his deputies Mirko Šarović and Vjekoslav Bevanda. We are trying to seek solutions to avoid these problems And yesterday the subject was just a letter from Minister Adil Osmanovic, and then we said that if that letter does not withdraw, a new one will come. "Since Osmanovic's letter was not withdrawn, Minister Josip Grubeša sent a new one," said Covic.

The topic of construction of the Peljesac bridge, added Covic, has been in use for several months in various ways.

"When a minister in the BiH Council of Ministers outside the system sends messages around the world about what a project is about, a reaction follows, and so did the reaction of Justice Minister Grubeša. I think that such public communication in BiH and with its first neighbors, especially friends Croatia is a real detriment to all of us in BiH, and we need to protect ourselves as soon as possible. We must protect ourselves in a way that harmonizes everything that is our interest, and then protect this harmonized interest to protect our neighbors and all the world institutions - said Čović adding That Grubesa sent his letter to the same addresses addressed to the Minister of Civil Affairs Adil Osmanovic, the Croatian Minister of the Reform, the European Commission, the OHR and the European leaders.

He expressed the hope that this would stop and that we would properly protect BiH's interests.

"There is no reason why we will not discuss the Peljesac bridge, and the Peljesac bridge will be built and built by Croatia, sovereign on its territory. It is also interesting for BiH to build it, and it is the interest of BiH and the problems that have been solved with Croatia. Someone is trying to skillfully tie these problems, but I think that with Croatia we need to solve the issue of border and cavity at that border. With Montenegro we managed to finish this, and with Croatia there were two locations in the area of the Big and Small Schools in the area of Neum and Kostajnica in the Una River area, "said Covic, adding that these issues should be solved as well as property issues that are in Croatia, and belongs to BiH.

Minister of Justice Josip Grubeša sent a letter to the Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Croatia, Olegu Butković, and to the European Commission, which states that there are no legal obstacles to the construction of the Pelješac Bridge.

Such written treatment followed the reaction to the letter sent by the minister of civil affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Adil Osmanovic to the Croatian minister and EU officials beforehand, in which Butković informed of the existence of legal obstacles for the construction of the bridge.
