Erdogan confirmed his arrival in Sarajevo

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said he would hold a rally with voters abroad in Sarajevo's capital Sarajevo after some European countries banned Turkish politicians from holding pre-election campaigns on their soil.

"In an environment in which some countries are discussing whether they will allow us to run a campaign, we prefer to get together with our citizens in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We will come together with our citizens from European countries in the Bosnian hall," Erdogan told reporters return from South Korea.

"On the other hand, our citizens will surely continue their campaign in other countries where they live in Europe," he said, according to Hurriyet.

It is expected that the rally in Sarajevo will be held on May 20, but no official announcement has yet been made.

Turkey will switch to extraordinary parliamentary and presidential elections on June 24, a year and a half ahead of schedule.

Germany, Austria and the Netherlands have announced that they will not allow Turkish politicians to run a pre-election campaign on their territory, citing concerns about public order.
