Novi Grad: Police intervened for blackmail on Facebook

Police officers of the Prijedor Police Directorate will submit a report to the competent prosecutor's office for the criminal offense of "Blackmail" after two people, according to PU Prijedor, were blackmailed by one person from the municipality of Novi Grad.

As it was announced from PU Prijedor, they blackmailed friends by publishing photographs and extorting money. After a person from Novi Grad came to the Police Department Prijedor on 21 January 2018 and reported that he was blackmailed by the person with whom he contacted through social networks, to publish photographs of the applicant, if he does not pay him a certain amount of money, and which in the previous period, already paid certain amounts due to blackmail, conducting the operative action of the code name "Triple" police officers of the Prijedor Police Directorate, they came to the conclusion that the perpetrators of the criminal offense were DP (1994) person from Novi Grad and one minor person.

"The criminal investigation found that the suspects repeatedly blackmailed the injured party in a way that through a social network with a false profile of a female person made contact with the injured party, and after the injured person submitted his photographs, the suspects were blackmailed by publishing photographs, asking for certain amounts of money.

As the suspects know about the injured, on January 31, 2018 they drove the damaged to Novi Grad in order to leave the money they asked for blackmail in the amount of 300,00 KM, which were then suspected and taken.

The suspected person was also found with confiscated banknotes, criminal investigation of the suspect DP was done, while measures and actions were taken against the juvenile perpetrator in accordance with the Law on Protection and Treatment of Children and Juveniles in Criminal Proceedings. After completing the case, a report will be sent to the competent prosecutor's office against the person for the criminal offense of "Blackmail", it was announced.
