UEFA: Disciplinary proceedings against the President of Rome

The European Football Federation (UEFA) has initiated disciplinary proceedings against James Pallotte, the president of Rome, for comment on the judges after the semi-final of the Champions League in which his club was eliminated from Liverpool.

UEFA says Pallotta is charged with "inappropriate behavior". UEFA's disciplinary commission will decide on a possible penalty for an American businessman on May 31, five days after the Champions League final in which Liverpool will play against Real Madrid.

Pallotta was angry over referee decisions at the expense of Roma, especially for the unsuccessful penalty for apparently playing by Trent Alexander-Arnold, a Liverpool player in his own penalty area. He later called on UEFA to introduce a judicial video assistant (VAR) or otherwise "such mistakes would generate absolute damage".

Roma finished fourth in the semi-finals with a 4: 2 result, but did not qualify for the finals due to defeat 2: 5 in the first encounter at Anfield Road. The final of the Champions League will be played on May 26 at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev.
