Parliament Adopted / The current leader of China can remain at the helm of the state for the rest of his life

The Chinese parliament has adopted a series of constitutional reforms this year, the most abolishing of restrictions on the number of presidential mandates, allowing current leader Xi Jinping to remain at the helm of the country for a lifetime.

For this proposal, except for two against and three abstentions, all delegates voted, almost 3,000 of them.

Changes to the constitution were proposed by the Communist Party of China last month and there was no dilemma whether they would be adopted. Critics on social networks claimed that it was about introducing a cult of personality, but the government reacted quickly and removed content from the Internet.

The limitation on the two five-year mandates was introduced after the death of Mao Ze Dong, but only with Xi, which has an unquestioned authority, has been repealed. At the last party congress, Xi entered the constitution of China, and introduced his own special political ideology, which is a rare honor for the Chinese leaders.
