Demographic explosion! A migrant baby boom has caused the highest birthrate in Germany in the last 40 years

In 2016, a total of 792,131 children were born in Germany. Compared to a total of 737,575 newborns in 2015, the number grew by almost 7 percent in one year

The number of newborn babies in Germany has been on the rise for the fifth year in a row, and experts have linked the increase in birth rates to the arrival of more migrants, as well as the fact that more women are born after 30 years of age, the Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden said on Wednesday.

"2016. 792,131 children were born in the territory of Germany, which is 55 thousand or seven percent more than a year before, "the Federal Statistical Office said in a statement. The number of children was born the last time 20 years ago, 1996. With 1.59 children per mother Germany is in the middle of the European Union's rankings. As a reason for the increase in birth rate, statisticians cite two factors: increased immigration and the fact that women are more likely to be born between the ages of 30 and 37 years of age.

About 185 thousand children were born mothers without a German passport, which is 25 percent increase. The increase in birthrate in this group is also contributed by the fact that these are women from societies where families have more children than in the West, such as Turkey or Syria. In the case of a mother with a German passport, a birth rate of three percent was recorded. A slight increase in the number of births in mothers with German citizenship is associated with improved living conditions due to positive economic development.

Overall, the overall birth rate in Germany rose to 1.59 children per woman, to a level that had not been recorded since 1973, more than four decades ago.
