The year 2018 in the EU: Towns full of police, army and barricades

The world is already getting ready to celebrate 2018. In European metropolises, particular attention is paid to security, while America is concerned about a great wave of colds that will bring New Year's temperatures deep below zero.
While counting the time to New Year's fireworks, pressure on security services across Europe is growing. The London police have assured the public that after four years of this terrorist attack they learned a lesson, but urges citizens and tourists to be alert.

"Everyone will be able to see security measures, searches, security barriers, uniformed police officers, and uniformed private security guards, but there will not be a number of people in town who will be deployed throughout the city to see the New Year's Eve happily" says Nick Aldworth.

In Berlin, for days, people are preparing to celebrate the New Year in the open for detailed reviews, and warn that large bags are left at home.

"Security measures have been strengthened last year, so this will be the case for this event. The whole area of the celebration will be fenced, and an additional 1600 police officers will be guarded," says Thomas Neuendorf of the Berlin police.

This means that almost all police officers in Berlin will welcome the New Year at work. Similarly, it will be in Paris where otherwise it can not be avoided at well-known long pipe locations, and at the longest night the city will be patrolled by more than 10,000 policemen.

In America, security warnings were replaced by meteoalarms. More than 70 million people are hit by extreme cold. In New York, New Year could enter with a minus of at least 10, and in Chicago and a minus 20 degrees. Warnings are issued for tourists, but above all for homeless people.

And on the plus 30, in Rio de Janeiro - a new year's tradition is a ritual in honor of the goddess of the sea to which prayers are sent from the beach.

As early as tomorrow, Copacabana should accommodate a record 3 million people for the biggest New Year's Eve so far.
