Dr. Rajko Rajovic warns parents: Children should fall and groom their knees, let them play!

Often I say to parents, set up your own childhood, climb up the trees, skip the fences, fall, get hurt, and that's all part of the childhood.

Dr. Ranko Rajovic is one of the most renowned experts in the development of intelligence in children.

Rajovic, an internist from Novi Sad, was also president of the World Council for Gifted Children, and studying the development of children turned out because many discoveries from medicine do not apply in pedagogy. Through Men he became the creator of the creative learning program which is now being applied in 14 countries of Europe.

We talked with Dr. Rajovic about children, why children need a game, what and how children should eat, what kind of childhood is today ...

Dr. Rajovic, what kind of childhood are our children today?

First of all, we need to know that the main job of a child is to play. So even today the children are looking for a way to satisfy this need. The only problem is that the environment has changed, so that game is no longer in motion, jumping, jumping, running, spinning, climbing. Today, the children are not moving anymore, and therefore the childhood is different. We have overweight children, diabetes is rising, and teachers in school say that today's children are weaker (motor, attention, and concentration) compared to generations 5 and 10 years ago. Movement is important for the development of the brain, especially in the earliest childhood, so the job of the parent is to make the child as sparsely and sportier as possible, spending a lot of time in the park, in the nature, on the playground ...

Have we ever been smarter when it comes to children and their upbringing?

Parents were once more relaxed, there was no over-protection in the presence of the present. I do not know why this is so, but parents need to know that over-protection damages the development of children. It is clear that, on this basis, parents were sometimes smarter, but it was better to say that they were more relaxed, more natural, they were not so chaste by children and it was important to say that the children were not allowed to do some things.

Here is just one example about food, that is lunch or dinner. More and more children eat soft food, so you can see a 4 or 5 year old child eat only soft or passionate food. Trainers say in kindergartens and say that there have never been so many children who can not eat solid foods, and there are times when parents bring specially stored foods for their children.

We often hear parents who are overweight when it comes to children's games, from "do not fall to jump". Is It Good For Child Development?

The term "Use it or lose it" is well known. In order for the brain to be as efficient as it would not consume energy to keep information that is not used, it only retains those neurons and synapses that are in use. In the book "IQ of the child, parenting care" I wrote some examples of medicine, where it can be seen that the brain quickly makes a mistake if the environment is wrong.

Failure to recognize this problem can lead to problems in the development of the child, because parents often make mistakes and do it in good intentions, not realizing that they are detrimental to the development of the child. In order to fulfill the biological potential of the child, in the first years of life it is necessary to encourage activities that strengthen the physical development of the child, above all the motor. It is normal for a child to run, to fall, to curb elbows and knees, but today we have parents who do not want the child to experience such a trauma. I lost my training, when I led Danila's son to play football, where the boys were running normally, skipped the obstacles and at the end of the training he played in two goals. One child was hurt, we quickly helped him, but we helped our mom to come to herself rather than to the baby. Often I say to parents, set up your own childhood, climb up the trees, skip the fences, fall, get hurt, and that's all part of the childhood.

How to awaken the desire to play in a child and at the same time know where and how to play with your peers?

Families sometimes had 2-3 children, so when one building has 20 apartments, the children were on the nearby playground, they kept each other, there was no need for parents to look after them. Today, the number of children has decreased, families have one or two children, and then parents have to go to their children, and often they can not because they are tired after a hard day's work. It is possible that they then make another mistake, because they buy a TV or a computer for their child because it is safer to be there than on the street ....

One of the solutions can be secured by parks or playgrounds that are fenced and can to only enter the children. There is already a concept of these parks, and this does not depend on parents, but from city institutions involved in the planning of parks and playgrounds. That is why it is important to educate the wider community, because we can do everything together, not to leave parents to take care of everything, to guard against unsafe drivers, to take care of the safety of the children in the city parks, to watch the wanderers ...
