Thieves make tourists between the Latin Cup and the Eternal Fire

According to the latest statistics, more than 128 thousand tourists stayed in BiH for three months, which is 15 percent more than the same period last year.

In Sarajevo, the highest number of tourist visits was recorded. But it seems, as Sarajlija tells us, that the competent authorities do little work on protecting tourists. Our photographer Jasmin Alibegovic in Sarajevo Ferhadija Street recorded the moment when a tourist was robbed. About 20 thieves operate daily on the Latinska ćuprija relation - the Eternal Fire, the part most frequented by tourists. Some of the robbers take water and children with them to make them less suspicious.

- And they act like tourists. Women robbing tourists are trained to look like tourists, mass tourist cards, have mobile phones that, just like real tourists, take pictures of what guides they show. For this reason, they are imperceptible also for police officers who occasionally patrol the civilian garment with that stock. This is a disgrace and shame for Sarajevo. Institutions of the city that are increasingly living in tourism should take much more account of the protection of tourists - a speaker tells us, who did not want us to mention his name.

Explains to us and how the thieves "do" tourists.

- They have two systems. If it's raining, it usually goes behind a victim with an open umbrella and it's so close to her that, when a tourist turns around, if anything is suspicious, she can not see anything except an umbrella. Usually there are crowds in the city, which is why frequent physical contacts with other people. That's why nothing is strange to them, and I can not even assume they were robbed. If they do not work with an umbrella, then they use a scarf. They usually work in a three-member group. Two people have a scarf, they lift it up to the door of a tourist, and the third one is doing a job - explains our interlocutor.

Citizens of Sarajevo, but also numerous tourists who have been victims of such robberies often seek police assistance. It is expected that the authorities will respond and, on this most frequent tourist route, engage more police officers to prevent this rapidly growing crime.
