Turkey / Erdogan thanked Putin: Russia voted for the Draft Resolution on Jerusalem
Russian and Turkish presidents - Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan - have pledged to continue co-operation in addressing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on the basis of international legal standards, the Kremlin press service said. Leaders of the two countries spoke on the phone and on that occasion talked about the UN Resolution on the Status of Jerusalem.
They emphasized that they share the view on this issue and that the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as a capital of Israel was illegal, and Erdogan also thanked Putin for supporting the resolution. Russia and Turkey are among the 128 countries that voted for Draft Resolution on Jerusalem. Putin and Erdogan also touched upon the situation in Syria, stressing that Russia and Turkey will continue to cooperate so that this conflict will be fully resolved.
The presidents expressed their hope and that the next steps in the forthcoming meeting in Astana will be agreed on the eve of the Congressional National Dialogue, to be held in Sochi.
