Thousands of policemen at the protests in Sarajevo are seeking better retirement conditions
More than a thousand police officers from all parts of the FBiH and members of BiH-level police agencies gathered today at a protest in front of the FBiH government's headquarters asking for an agreement on their retirement.
The protest began at 12 o'clock, and it is interesting that there is no protective fence in front of the government building, because the place is provided by their colleagues who greeted them and expressed their support.
Since an agreement has not been reached with the government representatives on the Law on PIOs so far, police say they are forced to go out in the street and ask for their rights to protest. Among them are police officers from several cantons - Canton Sarajevo, Tuzla, ZDK, USK, SBK, HNK ...
A whistling and unsuccessful attempt at negotiation
The whistle-blowers welcomed the present in the government building.
The gathered uniformed police ask for a new law to be included in the new law, according to which the manner of their retirement will be regulated by a special law. In the Law on PIO, the government defined the concept of a police officer, but refused to define the norm and supplement of the law, and, according to the proposed law on PIO, the pensions of police officers were lower by 25 to 30 percent.
The police union previously requested that a special coefficient be determined through dialogue with the authorities or that a sentence be included in the final provisions of the law that the calculation of the pension of police officers will be determined by a special regulation. The government refused.
"We insist that the law on PIO defines that the issue of our pensions will be solved by the Law on Police Officers under special regulations. Unfortunately, one sentence in the law has brought us here to protest." We guarantee you - none of the colleagues did not want to come to a protest gathering Instead of continuing negotiations, the government has received trade union representatives, which is absurd and resorting to cheap tricks. This government will remain remembered for calling retirees to protest and getting police officers, "said Mirza Hadziabdic of the KS Police Union.
Head in a bag every day
Police officers also stated that it was not true that their pensions would be higher than 650 KM, because in many cantons the rules on the salaries of police officers were not applied and that, except in two cantons, the pension of police officers would be about 630 KM.
"The long-lasting court proceedings lead the government to enforce the law on the salaries of police officers, but we do not ask for anything other than what is lawful to us." The police are always struck, we are the first in everything, but we have many problems. Our heads are in the bag every day. The night work started to be paid to us only 10 months ago, the HNK has a large number of judgments in the MUP, and they blackmailed us with the write-off of interest and jobs. "We worked long for love, but we also have our families," said one policeman from Konjic who is participating in today's protests.
Policemen from the Zenica-Doboj Canton say that their pension would not be 400 KM.
"We have first stood in defense of the state, created from the foundation and now we are here. Sadly," they say.
Novalic is not in the office
A negotiating team was formed that entered into negotiations in the FBiH Government building, but FBiH Prime Minister Fadil Novalic was not in his office.
Traffic in Alipašina Street is blocked.
After today, a protest in front of the building of the FBiH Parliament was announced at the same time tomorrow, and the crowd said they hope that no general police strike will come.
