One-hour blockade of traffic in BiH due to high fuel prices

Citizens are invited to block the roads through social networks, and the suspension should follow in the coming days.

Part of the citizens, who are dissatisfied with raising the price of fuel, decided to block roads in several cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina for 45 minutes. Calls for blocking were sent via social networks, and within the campaign "Stop the price increase." Fuel prices have risen several times in the last few months, nearly 20 eurocenters per liter. Citizens are invited to block roads and stop traffic due to high fuel prices.

"We make a stop for an hour every day at 5pm from 10th of June onwards, until the price of fuel is not reduced," the message posted on Facebook's Stop Stop Fueling Group said. The traffic was suspended at the crossing of the Parliament and the Council of Ministers of BiH in Sarajevo, in Brcanska Malta in Tuzla, in the center of Zenica and near the stadium in Bilinsko Polje, as well as in several Banja Luka settlements. Fena Agency reported that the traffic was blocked on the main road M17, which connects the north and south of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Columns were created on the road between Doboj and Zepce, and traffic was blocked in Visoko and Prijedor, reported BH. media.

Only a few minutes after they stopped their cars at the aforementioned Tuzla crossing, there was a traffic collapse. Dissatisfied drivers say the blockade is the first form of expressing dissatisfaction over fuel prices. Passage is also disabled for public transport in Banja Luka, Nezavisne novine reports. It is said that more and more cars are joining the protest.

"I hope that as many people stand up to support this protest, they are comparing us with Germany where they pay 2,000 euros, while there are 200 euros in our country. It really does not make any sense this rampant fuel prices," said a Banja Luka the protest stopped her car on the street. Blocks were also organized in the Montenegrin towns of Niksic, Rozaje and Ribarevin, and in several cities in Serbia.

Blocks began in Serbia

Traffic blockades began on Friday when traffic in Serbia stopped on several locations in order to point to the ever-increasing price of fuel.

Drivers in Belgrade, Nis, Leskovac, Trstenik, Cacak, Topola, Novi Sad, Novi Pazar, Sombor, Sabac and other cities of Serbia stopped their cars on busy streets Friday and blocked traffic for a short time due to high fuel prices. At locations where drivers blocked traffic, dozens of citizens were gathered. There was no police intervention, no incidents.
