A new blow to citizens' pockets in BiH: Growing bread and milk?
This year's drought and bad conditions for farmers will lead to the price increase of all foodstuffs in BiH, claims Nedžad Bićo, president of the Federation of Farmers of FBiH.
As it explains, farmers are already suffering from a catastrophe for big damage, and consumers should be concerned not only about higher prices, but also about the quality of what will be imported.
- We have been talking about price increases for three months. A domino effect has now been created and it is difficult to stop it. It is possible that the authorities will now practice that there is no calculation to raise bread, for example, because wheat was not affected by drought, but that is why corn and many other things. Unfortunately, everything is connected - said Bico for Dnevni avaz.
Bosnia and Herzegovina imports a part of wheat from Serbia and Croatia, and production is halved, said Bićo, adding that he had heard with his colleagues from neighboring countries who told him that the damage was huge in them, so that the import prices could be drastically more than the previous year.
It will add that milk production is reduced, but that there is a possibility of disease in livestock.
- A large number of farmers want to give up production. Sheep and other cattle now have to go out to graze, but they have nothing to do, because everything is burnt. Farmers began to use stocks, and silages and shadows could not be imported. Different diseases will begin to appear, because whenever there is a fierce summer or some flood, different diseases occur - said Bićo.
He believes that, apart from bread, he will buy milk and other foods. Fearing In the company "Mlin Nezic" from Gracanica, which produces flour, they told us that, according to the information they have, they should not be increased and that such stories are an attempt by the resellers to bring fear to the market.
- These are probably the efforts of the resellers of raw materials to prepare consumers for price increases, most likely they could do bakers. Because whenever there is an accident, such as drought, they are always at the first strike of basic animal foods - they told us in this company.
