Celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Sutjeska

Representatives of the Association of Anti-fascist and Fighters of the National Liberation War (SABNOR) of BiH, as well as other anti-fascist associations from Montenegro, Croatia and Slovenia, today marked the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Sutjeska on Tjentište.

Anti-fascists laid wreaths and recalled one of the greatest battles of World War II in this region where 7,543 fighter killed. The Battle of Sutjeska was conducted from May 15 to June 16, 1943 and was the decisive battle of the fifth hostile offensive.

Almost 127,000 German, Italian, Bulgarian soldiers and Ustashas, with the support of 300 planes, held 22,000 partisans in the rally for the purpose of total destruction. On June 10, 1943, the first proletarian division broke through a hostile ring on Sutjeska, and the battle ended on June 15, 1943, by the breakdown of the majority of the forces of the NOVY.

The basic messages of today's gathering are that anti-fascism in these areas is not dead, that there are many who want to continue to cultivate the tradition of anti-Fascism, and that the values of the national liberation struggle, such as coexistence, are uninhabitable and lasting, and that the glorious past must not be forgotten and from these events should learn lessons and apply them nowadays.

The event was also attended by Sarajevo Canton Minister Muharem Fišo, who said that antifascism will always live in those parts, because this is not ideology, but the theory of the survival of human society.

After the speech of representatives of the association of antifascists and survivors of the Battle of Sutjeska, a cultural and artistic program was organized, said Cabinet Minister Muharem Fishe.
