Migrants from BiH near the border with Croatia
Migrants who are in Velika Kladusa today have organized in large numbers from the direction of Drmaljeva to the Velika Kladusa-Maljevac border crossing in order to try to cross the Croatian border and host the EU, local media report. At the border crossing Velika Kladusa-Maljevac, police forces are also deployed to secure the location.
The border crossing is Velika Kladusa - Maljevac is reopened. Earlier, strong police forces were present at the crossing.
"Since there is no consistent BiH policy towards the suppression of illegal migration, such steps and actions of the migrants themselves could be expected. First, the BiH border police should prevent the uncontrolled movement of migrants on the roads and towards the border crossing," Croatian Radio-Television Zlatko Sokolar told Croatian Radio, former chief of the Croatian Ministry of the Interior for border police.
He added that the Croatian police are ready to refuse such an attempt to illegally migrate, and pressure the Croatian authorities themselves to go further towards Slovenia, Western Europe, which, he said, is illusory to expect from them. Croatian police can physically reject such pressure, and on the other hand one should expect the real reaction of the BiH authorities to prevent it and finally to establish a system in place that will regulate the safe accommodation of migrants, as well as the inability to cross the eastern borders of BiH at all, concluded Sokolar .
