The holiday of the state no longer exists: November 29 - Republic Day
It was once marked as the biggest holiday in the former Yugoslavia - Republic Day. For six decades, on November 29, the Second Session of AVNOJ was celebrated when representatives of the Partisan resistance movement proclaimed the federal arrangement of Yugoslavia and the constitutional assembly of the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia.
Today, 74 years have passed since the second session of the Anti-Fascist Council of People's Liberation of Yugoslavia (AVNOJ) in Jajce, where a decision was made on the federal structure of the future Socialist Yugoslavia.
On November 29, 1943, the National Committee for the Liberation of Yugoslavia was set up and it was announced that it was decided that Yugoslavia should be built on a democratic, federal principle, as a community of equal peoples, and the return to the royal government in the country of refuge was banned.
This was the most joyous holiday of all republics of the SFRY, which was especially marked. Many went to the sea, excursions, and a series of events were organized in which they sang, played and talked about the significance of this date. Two non-working days were held during which ceremonial academies were held in the capital cities of the republics, and the greatest recognitions, decorations were awarded ... The pioneers - pupils of the champions who were given red pioneer scarves had a special role. Yugoslavia was chaired by Marshal Josip Broz Tito.
The last pioneers who took the oath were born some years ago in 1982.
Pioneering oath
Today, when I become a pioneer
I give my pioneering word:
That I will learn and work diligently
respect parents and the elderly,
and be a loyal and honest friend,
who holds the word;
That I will love our homeland self-governing
Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia
Keep brotherhood and unity
All its peoples and nationalities
And appreciate all the people of the world
who want freedom and peace!
