Former Mossad leader has offered mediation between Israel and Jordan

Former head of the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, who was at the center of the previous major crisis with Jordan, argues that an agreement could be reached that would pacify Jordan and reduce tensions over the main temple in Jerusalem.

Danny Yat said on Monday that Israel should remove metal detectors from the gate of the holy place in Jerusalem administered by the Jordanian vakuf, in exchange for the release of Israeli personnel, according to the Associated Press (AP).

- The Jordans will let our embassy people, especially the guard who fired, and in return, we will help the Jordanian vakuf to continue performing his role in the Temple Mount. We will also remove gates with metal detectors - Yatom told AP.

Yatom resigned as head of Mossad after a failed attempt to kill Hamas leaders in Jordan.
