Russia expels another 27 British diplomats

Russia expels more than 50 British diplomats as part of retaliatory measures after the former Russian spy poisoning in Great Britain, with more countries expelling Russian diplomats.

The Russian authorities earlier announced that they would expel 23 British diplomats, in proportion to the number of Russian diplomats who had to leave London. Moscow, however, decided to ban a larger number, so that the Russian and British diplomatic missions would have the same number of personnel.According to the BBC, this practically means that at least 27 British diplomats in Russia will have to return to London.

The British government has accused Russia of attacking a nerve agent on former double agent Sergei Skripala and his daughter Julia on March 4 in Solsbury. Moscow has rejected all charges.British Ambassador to Moscow Larry Bristow said his country has a month to reduce the number of diplomatic personnel and bring it into line with the number of Russian diplomats in the UK.
