Vivienne Westwood: 'Assange is a war hero, he uncovered American war crimes'

Vivienne Westwood's fashion icon sent a support message to her friend Julian Assange, whose internet access had been interrupted some time by the British Embassy in the United States, calling it a "hero" and a "brilliant" man

Westwood greeted Julian Assange on RT television after they asked her why she decided to come to the EASA. Holding what looked like a UK passport, Westwood announced that he wanted to make a statement about freedom of speech."Julian Assange is one of the greatest heroes of the world, we are now very worried that he can not have visitors," she said. "It's really important to have access to the world through all the things he's done."

According to Vivienne Westwood, Assange is "a war hero who has revealed US war crimes". The founder of WikiLeak "is my friend and he is great," she said.

On Wednesday, the Embassy Embassy in London, where Assange was forced to live, blocked Internet access. Assange's comments on Catalan politics, in which he aligned Spain's demands for extradition with fascist policies, created anxiety for the government of Ecuador.

Sources close to WikiLeaks have told RT that the Ecuadorean Foreign Minister has asked Assange to delete Twitter, which he refused to do. Because of this, he has been deprived of the right to access the Internet and is no longer allowed to meet with visitors to the embassy.

This week, Assange criticized Berlin for making his decision to arrest the fugitive leader of the Catalan Independence Movement Carles Puigdemon, sought by the Spanish government over charges of revolt and abuse.

Assange compared this decision with that of Nazi Germany arresting Catalan leader Lluis Company and handing it over to the regime of Spanish dictator Francis Franca.

The Embassy reportedly installed electronic disruptors to block all communications in their space hours after an individual representing Assange's interests was informed of "the strong discomfort and concern that his statements caused to the Ecuador government," the source told CAPE.
